Shopping Secondhand First | Engagement Photos

Don't we all love getting new clothes? I know I absolutely do!

I got engaged in December of 2020, so I've been on the hunt for cute outfits for all the wedding festivities!

I'll admit I got caught up at first with getting new outfits for each event, including our engagement photos! I ordered a few things from Target, but quickly realized I didn't need new clothes for my photos to turn out better. I realized I wanted to have photos where I looked like myself, so I chose my favorite jeans, a black tee, a warm coat (there was snow on the ground) & simple jewelry.

Shopping secondhand isn't foreign to me, it's been a concept I've adopted for quite some time. But sometimes I get caught up in the "I need to look perfect" moments, my fiancè Ryan helps ground me, thank God for him!

Some excellent places to shop secondhand are your local thrift store - think Goodwill, Salvation Army, ect. Others are local consignment stores, my favorite in the Indy area are Simply Chic & Clothes Mentor. Others are Thred-Up, Poshmark, Mercari or eBay! So many great options to shop secondhand!

I am in love with how the photos turned out!

Here are some outfit details!

Jeans - Altar'd State

Tee - Land's End

Coat - Old Navy

Boots - Franco Sarto

Earrings - Clay + Collection (Etsy)

While not entirely everything was purchased secondhand, all of these items were items I had previously owned. Nothing new was purchased for these photos!

I've decided to do the same for our couples showers that are coming up at the end of May! I've purchased two outfits, a jumpsuit & a maxi dress. Both were purchased secondhand, I'm so excited to show you those at a later date!
